On Alcoholic Seas

Can you see me when
alcohol has set you free?
Can you feel me when
alcohol has made you believe?

Do you want me
When floating on that alcoholic sea?
Or do you fantasize about who you
Would like to see me be?

It’s a mystery to me,
the way you choose to be free.
Can’t you see
the lies you believe?

Never mind about me,
Look around one more time.
Search for your children.
the ones who try to be blind.

They love you, you know
Every time you waste yourself,
You deliver them a terrible blow.
Oh, but it’s okay, because they don’t tell you so.

Fight yourself, fight the wind
But never give in to the
chance that you could win.
Keep on keeping on,
drinking and lying,
cheating and hiding,
And prove yourself right—
that you’re a "has been."

Can you see you
When alcohol has set you free?
Or do you see only what you want to see?
A man with a past, no present, no future,
A sight to behold with no place to go.

Alcohol chose you, and you choose the rest.
All I can do is pray for the best.
Believe in the bottle or believe in your strength.
Life is a choice we all have to make.
