Claudia Black, Ph.D., MSW, Clinical Consultant for The Meadows, is a lecturer, author and trainer internationally recognized for her pioneering and contemporary work with family systems and addictive disorders. She is also past chairperson of the National Association for Children of Alcoholics and presently serves on its Advisory Board. Dr. Black has been featured in numerous publications, appeared on many national television shows, and written several well-known books, including Changing Course, The Missing Piece, It Will Never Happen to Me, Double Duty, A Hole in the Sidewalk, Depression Strategies: Practical Tools for Professionals Treating Depression and her latest book, Straight Talk.

Her work focuses on the addictive family, family-of-origin issues, and the treatment and recovery of abuse survivors. The originator of a successful model of change used in family relationship treatment programs worldwide, Claudia is the recipient of a number of national accolades, including the Marty Mann Award, SECAD Award and NCA’s Educator of the Year.
